Travel Smart. Travel Healthy.

Most people spend months planning a trip. Very few spend an hour making sure their body is ready for it.

Different destinations carry different health risks — and what you don't know before you board can turn a dream trip into a medical emergency. Contaminated water, mosquito-borne diseases, altitude sickness, foodborne illness — these aren't rare worst-case scenarios. They're real risks that the right preparation makes entirely manageable.

At Optimum Sports & Wellness Institute, our travel medicine consultations are thorough, personalised, and built around your specific itinerary. We look at where you're going, how long you'll be there, what you'll be doing, and what your health history looks like — then we make sure you're covered.

  • Pre-travel health consultations
  • Travel vaccinations & immunisations, including Yellow Fever
  • Malaria prevention & prophylaxis advice
  • Post-travel health assessments

Travel Medicine FAQs

As early as you can — ideally 4 to 6 weeks before you travel. Some vaccines take time to become fully effective, and certain ones are given as a course of doses over several weeks. If your trip is sooner than that, still book — we can often help with last-minute travellers and advise on what's possible in the time you have.
Yes. We're a certified Yellow Fever vaccination centre, so we can administer the vaccine and issue the official international certificate (the "yellow card"). Note that a Yellow Fever certificate only becomes valid 10 days after vaccination, which is another reason to book ahead of your departure date.
That depends on where you're going, how long you'll be there, what you'll be doing and your health history. In your consultation we review your specific itinerary and recommend the vaccinations and precautions that fit your trip — rather than a one-size-fits-all list.
Yes. If your destination carries a malaria risk, we'll advise on prophylaxis (preventive medication) suited to the region and your health, along with practical bite-prevention measures to keep you protected while you travel.
Bring your travel itinerary (destinations and dates), any record of past vaccinations you have, and a list of any chronic conditions or medications. The more detail we have, the more precisely we can tailor your travel health plan.
